EGA is pleased to present this digital video presentation to you on how the generic medicines industry is working to provide high-quality affordable medicines to millions of Europeans while stimulating competitiveness and innovation in the pharmaceutical sector. Generic medicines and original branded products contain the same active substance, must meet the same standards of quality, safety and efficacy and comply with the same stringent rules of production and pharmacovigilance. Generic medicines producers invest 6-16% of revenues to Research & Development to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of off-patent medications. Competition from generic medicines drives the search for new and more effective pharmaceuticals. Equivalent generic medicines are typically 20-90% less expensive than brand-name products. They save EU patients €25 billion a year, and create the budget headroom needed to pay for expensive products, treatments and services. Here is what you will find out:
