Taiwan Department of Health Delegation Visits EGA

The EGA was recently honoured with a visit by an official delegation from the Bureau of Pharmaceutical Affairs, Department of Health, Taiwan.

Mr Greg Perry, EGA Director General, and Ms Suzette Kox, Senior Director Scientifc Affairs, meet with representatives of the Taiwanese government on Thursday, 9 June 2005. Discussions focussed on implementation of the new EU pharmaceutical legislation and its implications on access to cost-effective generic medicines in Europe.

The Tawainese officials were particularly keen to learn more about the new legal framework for generics adopted during last year’s Pharma Review, especially the provisions on data exclusivity and the European legal framework for biosimilar medicines.

At the end of what was an interesting and fruitful exchange, the delegation extended a warm invitation to the EGA to return the visit to the Department of Health in Taiwan.
